Tour Description: In this tour, we visit a local home in Fort Kochi for an interactive cooking session and dinner. The cooking session will be led by the lady of the house. Typically the menu includes a starter such as idiappam (string hoppers) or fish fry, vegetables, chicken curry, rice, vellai-appam (pancakes), etc. But there is no “standard menu” as it varies based on the season and what’s available in the market.
While this is not a cooking class conducted by professionals, you’ll find yourself learning a lot about Malayali cuisine because of the interactive and friendly nature of the session. This tour also provides a chance to visit a local home, see what family life is like, and chat about daily life in the city.
Cooking takes between 60 - 90 minutes, after which you will eat together. If you do not wish to participate in the cooking and prefer to only watch and photograph (or just talk and eat!), that is fine as well. If there is something specific you'd like to learn how to cook, please let us know in advance and we’ll check whether it is feasible.
